Excelsior Lodge Supports Local Food Bank

On the 6 December Excelsior Lodge held their regular meeting, after the meeting the lodge held their annual Christmas, Ladies to Dine to which the members invite their partners friends and any prospective candidates. This is always a well attended and very enjoyable event in the lodge calendar. This consisted of pre-dinner drinks followed by a four course meal and there was entertainment by a DJ and a Christmas Quiz and Carol Singing.  During the evening a series of raffles were held to raise money which this year the Brethren decided donate £330 to the local food bank.

On the 19 December the WM of Excelsior Lodge David Ullathorne visited the South Liverpool Food Bank at the Bridge Chapel Centre and donated a cheque to Muriel Kelly a Trustee of The Trussell Trust for a sum of £330.

During the visit to the hall the volunteers were busy with the food parcels for families in need of support. The volunteers collect non-perishable in-date food donated at a range of places such as schools, churches and businesses as well as supermarket collection points it is then sorted to emergency food parcels.

Typical food parcels will include cereal, soup, pasta, rice and other various tinned products as well as tea/coffee and biscuits which last a family 3 days.
