A message from our group Festival representative

Brethren and Companions, as we reach the half way point of our current Festival, I felt it appropriate to advise you of the progress we have made, the initiatives we have undertaken and, to offer my thanks to the many group members who have assisted me in our collective objective of raising as much money as possible for the MCF.

To date we have raised in excess of £10,000. This has been achieved via, amongst other means, holding a number of functions here at our Masonic Home in Garston. This has only been possible by the cooperation and support of the hall directors, most especially hall chairman, Mal Yates. We have a number of future events in the planning including a Valentines evening. Anyone who has attended one of our events will no doubt concur that the standard of entertainment, food and value for money has been first class.

Our ‘Gala Evening’ at Anfield on May 2 promises to be a spectacular night when we will be joined by many senior members of the Province including our Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison and his wife Maureen. The evening commences with the opportunity to take a tour of the stadium including the trophy room with many photo opportunities. There then follows a gourmet dinner before live entrainment provided by Mickey Powell and The Regrets, two fantastic local acts. We will also have a bumper raffle and auctions of various sporting memorabilia. Please ensure you reserve your tickets without delay as we are limited to 340 places and we have already sold 178. Again, it would be wrong of me not to mention the help and support I have received in planning and organising such an event. In particular I must thank Howard Griffiths, Gary Jones and  Paul Baines for their considerable efforts. I should also add my thanks to our group chairman John Murphy for his continued support.

Brethren, we are by no means a large group but, on a per capita basis we can feel justifiably proud of our achievements to date. But please, don’t let us rest on our laurels, we still have two years to maximise our collective accomplishments. I for one will do all within my power to see we of the Garston Group are able to achieve its collective objectives.

Thank you all and I look forward to seeing you at one of our future events.
