Excelsior Lodge Race Night

Excelsior Lodge No 3580 recently held a charity race night in aid of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) here at Garston Masonic Hall. The evening was attended by some 35 people, including members of Excelsior Lodge and other lodges within the Garston Group and of course friends and family.

The races began at 7:00pm and after the third race there was a fun quiz organised by Ian Jackson,  followed by an excellent ‘Scouse’ buffet served by Tony and his catering team.

The races then continued until the sixth and final race  when WM of Excelsior Lodge,  Carl Garside, announced the winners of the ‘Best’ and ‘Worst’ summer shirts! To say that many of the Excelsior brethren were wearing loud shirts, is, as you will see putting it nicely!

Winner of the best shirt, Ian Yoxall, South Liverpool Lodge

Winner of the worst shirt, Carl Garside, Excelsior Lodge

A raffle then took place  where many prizes (kindly donated by the members and guests of Excelsior Lodge)  were won.

Once the raffle was completed Phil Brown thanked everyone for attending and supporting the MCF, he also thanked the members of Excelsior Lodge for their generosity and support.  Finally he thanked Paul Brannan, Gill Brannan and Dot Mitchell for providing all of the equipment and for running the race night with military precision. Phil then had the delightful job of announcing that the evening had raised £550.

Many people stayed on and enjoyed a few drinks and each others company.

Excelsior Lodge  plan to run the event again next year and hopefully encourage greater numbers to attend and raise yet more money for this fantastic charity.
